This will create a new project from the MSFS base files.  The process for creation is the same as  the others.  Menu > Create Project from Stock and enter the Ident

Press the enter key or click Check

and the airport name should appear. If it does not then the ident you used is not in the MSFS database and you need to cancel and create from scratch.  Enter a project name and click Go then Save.

It is important to wait.   At this time the process to get the stock airport into the display is slow.  Just be patient.  We are trying to improve feedback but some parts of this process take time.  Eventually you will get a dialog like this:

This is a schema check.  If it reports schema violations then you need to make a screen shot and report them.

Clicking OK in this case will generate a second error window from the XML loader

If this happens then the project is not correctly formed and you need to delete it from your projects folder.

Please report any schema error messages you get with screen shots.  These errors mean we have not implemented the process of turning BGL into XML into ADE format correctly

Click OK and wait some more - ADE is now loading the airport data and setting up the display.  MSFS airports appear to have more aprons, taxi points and taxi paths than the FSX equivalent.  A particular issue is the number of aprons.  The lists below show what it implemented and what is not.  We are working on implementing all relevant elements and  properties during the development process.

Elements Loaded:

  • Services
  • Airport Delete Record
  • Runway
  • Start
  • Runway Start
  • Taxi Point
  • Taxi Path
  • Taxi Parking
  • Taxi Names
  • Apron
  • Taxi Sign
  • Delete Navigation
  • Exclusion Rectangles
  • Apron Edge Lights (Light Rows)
  • Jet ways
  • Scenery Objects
  • Projected Mesh
  • Light Supports
  • Painted Lines
  • Painted Hatched Areas
  • Painted Polys (Compile but do not appear in sim)

Not Loaded

  • Coms
  • Terminal Navaids
  • Waypoints
  • ILS
  • Detail Polys (Not sure what these are and no plan to include them at this time)

Before going any further you should check the settings in the Airport Delete Record.   This record tells ADE to hide the relevant elements from the base airport stopping them appearing in sim.  This is discussed in more detail in section 9.  The delete record can be accessed by Tools > Raw Data View and open the tree until the elements of the Airport are visible.  At the top is the delete record:

ADE has set these to hide any element types that it can handle but none that it can’t.  This default set will change as more elements are added to the list that can be handled.  Check you are happy with these and click Save.
