Updates

ADE has an on-line update checker.   In previous versions this was manual.   Update checking can now be done automatically each time ADE starts up and this is the default way it works.   If you have a permanent Internet connection then you should leave it this way.   However if you are on a dial up connection you will get a message each time you start ADE telling you that it cannot access the update site.   In this case you may want to turn the automatic check off.   From the Main menu use Settings > Options to get the General Options Screen:

 

 

Uncheck Auto Check Update   and Save.   This will stop ADE from making the automatic check.   We recommend, however, that you leave this checked if you have a permanent Internet connection.

 

Manual Check

You can check manually at any time from the main menu.   Help > Check for Update.

 

Getting Updates

If an update is available you will be presented with a small information screen:

 

 

 

To take the update click Yes.   To leave it Click No.   NOTE that ADE will ask you each time it loads until you make the update.   If you choose to take the update the Downloader will appear.   ADE itself will not open if this is an automatic check.   If you have made a manual check then you will need to close ADE yourself.

 

 

• Choose the folder that you wish the download file to be saved in by clicking the small '...' button

• Click Download Now to begin the download.

• Once complete the downloader will close.   Go to the folder you saved the file in and run it to update ADE.
